Melbourne Nail Laser Clinic: A Pioneer in Fungal Nail Treatment

Dr. Greg Bastin, a trailblaser in the field of podiatry, made history over 15 years ago by introducing laser technology to Melbourne's medical landscape. His vision was to revolutionise the treatment of nail fungus, a persistent and often frustrating condition.   Over the years, Melbourne Nail Laser Clinic has amassed a wealth of experience in the realm of fungal nail treatment, marking itself as an industry leader. This journey of innovation and patient-centric care has not only transformed the way we approach nail fungus but also led to the emergence of cutting-edge technologies that prioritize comfort and effectiveness.

Pioneering the Laser Approach: A Brief History

Our journey began with the introduction of laser technology to the world of podiatry. The first step was the implementation of the Pinpointe Foot Laser, a hot laser system. The results were promising, with successful outcomes in treating nail fungus. However, one notable drawback was the level of discomfort experienced by patients during treatment. The pinpoint accuracy of this laser, while beneficial in many respects, posed challenges in ensuring comprehensive nail coverage.   Understanding the significance of patient comfort and treatment efficacy, we ventured further and adopted the Cool Touch laser. This technology offered several key advantages over its predecessor. The most significant improvement was the laser's broader spot size, which virtually eliminated the possibility of missing any part of the nail during treatment. Moreover, the Cool Touch laser incorporated an inbuilt thermal feedback system, allowing for precise monitoring of toe temperature with an accuracy of less than 1°C. To enhance patient comfort, it also featured a cryogen spray that could maintain an ideal temperature during the procedure.

The Pursuit of Excellence: Clinical Trials and Innovation

Our commitment to providing the best possible treatments for nail fungus led us to explore various laser systems through clinical trials. In our rigorous evaluations, we found that many of these systems fell short of our expectations, categorising them as second-rate options.   Among the technologies we tested was the PACT system, which, unfortunately, did not meet the high standards we set for the successful treatment of Onychomycosis.

Ten years ago, we embarked on an exciting journey with a ground breaking laser technology known as Lunula Laser. Melbourne Nail Laser Clinic had the unique privilege of acquiring an early production unit for clinical trials. During this period, only a select few clinics, including Arizona Foot Clinic and London Nail Laser Clinic, were using this cutting-edge equipment, as it had not yet been widely released to the market.   Lunula represented a paradigm shift in cold laser systems, a departure from the hot lasers primarily designed for other medical conditions and later adapted for nail fungus treatment.

The Lunula Laser: A Cold Laser Revolution

The Lunula Laser was unlike anything we had seen before. It was meticulously crafted from the ground up, with a singular focus on treating nail fungus. This stark contrast to the hot lasers on the market, initially designed for different medical concerns, was a testament to its commitment to excellence in fungal nail treatment.   As we continued to treat patients with the Lunula Laser, we began to notice remarkable differences in results compared to the earlier generation hot lasers.   Notably, patients reported experiencing no pain during their treatments. Fast forward ften years, and our extensive experience with this cold laser system has solidified its place as the preferred choice for treating nail fungus. While we still maintain some of the earlier hot lasers, they remain untouched when it comes to nail fungus treatment, as the Lunula Laser consistently outperforms them.

The Lunula Laser Advantage: A Closer Look

To understand the appeal of the Lunula Laser, it's essential to delve into its unique characteristics and the advantages it offers:

1.         Pain-Free Treatment:

One of the most significant benefits of the Lunula Laser is its painless nature. Patients no longer need to endure discomfort during their fungal nail treatments, a stark contrast to hot lasers that may cause considerable pain.

2.         Unprecedented Results:

The results achieved with the Lunula Laser have exceeded our expectations, surpassing those of the earlier generation hot lasers. Patients are not only more comfortable during treatment but also more satisfied with the outcomes.

3.         Dedicated Nail Fungus Treatment:

The Lunula Laser stands out for its single-minded approach to treating nail fungus. Unlike hot lasers, which were originally designed for different medical applications, the Lunula Laser has been purpose-built for this specific purpose, optimising its effectiveness.
